FEATURED SPOTLIGHT ~ FEB ~ 2010

LSC FEATURED SPOTLIGHT - FEBRUARY ~ 2010
The purpose of the LSC Featured Spotlight is to highlight a special member of the family so that we can all get to know them better. In any big family you have all kinds of people and every one of them is special in their own right. We wish to shine a bright light on those that are gems, that stand out a bit and are truly deserving of a little extra recognition based on several indicators:
1. Contribution to LSC
2. Contribution to SL
3. Contribution to RL
When we say contribution, we mean that by participating in these venues they have made an impact and have made things just a bit better for those around them.
So without further ado, LSC COMM and the entire ADMIN staff are pleased to present to you our February 2010 LSC Featured Spotlight on:

The Heart of Hope

Hope. A strong word and an even stronger feeling. Hope is the driving force behind the woman being spotlighted this month. Please wrap your hearts and your arms around Miss Ronnie Rhode. Ronnie is being spotlighted this month for many reasons, however the main reason is her dedication to making a difference in the lives of those she reaches out to help. She is the founder and proprietor of The Garden of the Missing, a project that helps in finding missing people all over the globe and helping the families of the missing in their grief and quest for resolution. Ronnie first started Second Life in 2007 and was not even sure that she would stay, but she found her calling one night when she was dozing at her computer. A little voice told her to put up posters of missing persons on her land and she woke up immediately knowing that was what she was in SL for. Her garden now has 200 posters of missing persons of all ages and all walks of life. Though there are more that could be posted, she feels that 200 is more than most visitors to her garden can handle at one time as the emotions can be quite overwhelming, even for her.
Despite the stress of working in real life and dedicating most if not all of her spare time to The Garden, Ronnie does not miss a beat. Not only does she work feverishly for the missing and the families of the missing in her Garden, she also works closely with Kelly Jolkowski, president and founder of Project Jason, a real life non profit organization to help search for and locate missing people everywhere. She refers many families that come to her over to Kelly and Project Jason for any of the issues that they are better equipped to help with. It is obvious that this labor of love and partnership is one that will carry on for years to come. It Ronnies hope that one day, she and Kelly can both quit their real life jobs and work full time for the Garden and Project Jason, but she understands that it will take time and patience for them to reach that goal.
Her friend Anika Pastorelli told us that she is one of the greatest persons she has ever known. She is strong, determined, dedicated to her work and her friends and extremely passionate in helping the friends and families of the missing. Anika stated "Ronnie strongly believes that SL is a viable social medium to promote professional work/businesses, nonprofit missions and friendships. She is a real friend and advocate and she will stand by you in the worst of times and celebrate with you the best of times. She is very giving on all levels."
Maurice Mistwallow, Ronnies friend for over 12 years, says that though it's difficult to pick just one single thing about his friend that he respects the most, if he had to it would be her creations of The Garden for the Missing. Especially considering that when she first joined SL, she didn't know anything about building. Yet she formulated an idea and she made it happen. Maurice stated "The Garden is a very impressive and touching build and when she got involved with Project Jason, everything she does just builds on the wonderful things she's already done. She is a great leader, a great organizer and Project Jason is very fortunate that she found them/they found her. She can make things happen...she imagines it and she doesn't stop working until it happens. She is remarkable and yes, she has made a big impact on my life. I think she makes an impact on everybody that knows her."

Ronnies friend Parhelion Palou agrees with Anika and Maurice in that Ronnie is a very hard working woman with so much strength. Parhelion stated "Ronnie doesn't have a lot of spare time between her store (which you uses to fund The Garden) and her non profit work, but when she does find some time, she likes to spend it with her friends. She has been a good friend and her dedication to The Garden and the families of missing persons has made many aware and hopeful that more can become aware."
Ronnie is a very strong, spirited woman with hope. Hope and love and a fearlessness in sharing with anyone and everyone that is willing to spare the time to hear her and visit her Garden, created out of love. The work she does is in fact not work to her, but a higher calling that she answers with pride. She has a genuine heart, a beautiful mind and an inspirtational soul. She is the embodiment of Love and a shining example that indeed love and loving is the universal answer. Congratulations Ronnie...we here at Liata Social Club will eternally support you in all of your future endeavors.
